Lunch & Learn: Play Therapy Skills for Building Resiliency with Military Families
This session will increase understanding of military lifestyle and culture and how these directly impact play therapy sessions. Participants will explore how routine, attachment, and traditions impact resiliency. Specific play therapy techniques including art, games, and puppets will be discussed and experienced.
Learning Objectives: After successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Recognize the unique qualities of military culture and lifestyle and how these impact counseling needs of play therapy sessions.
2. Identify specific stressors faced by military families including breaks in family attachment, impact of moves and transitions.
3. Describe 3 play therapy techniques that can be utilized to build resiliency in military families.

About our presenter: Lisa Remey MEd, LPC-S, RPT-S, NCC, IPT-CST
Lisa Remey MEd, LPC-S, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor works with preschoolers, children and adolescents in New Braunfels, Texas. She has over 20 years’ experience serving children and families in various settings including schools, agencies, military communities, and private practice. As a retired military spouse of 21 years, Lisa understand first hand the challenges military families face.

VIRTUAL: This will be a virtual meeting. Participants will be awarded CONTACT CE upon successful completion of a post test. Participants must be visible throughout the presentation. Due to COVID-19 health concerns, this one-time online event has been approved by APT for 2 CONTACT CE Hours.
NEAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to Play Therapy. APT Approved Provider 02-123. NEAPT maintains responsibility for the program. Registrants understand and agree that any photograph (screen shot), video or audio recording of themselves may be used to further promote NEAPT.
Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be requested in writing and received no later than September 9, 2020. Cancellations are subject to a $15 processing fee. Substitutions (someone else attending) or transfer of registration to another training date may be requested. No refunds.
