Lunch & Learn: A Play Therapy Approach to Attachment-Disrupted Children

The use of play therapy methods and activities can be a fun and powerful tool to assist in building the bonds of attachment. This workshop will explore simple, fun, and realistic play therapy activities to increase self-esteem, improve self-regulation, and enhance healthy foundations for relationships. This training will cover some information related to trauma, foster care, and adoption. Come prepared to play and experience the fun!

Learning Objectives: After successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. identify basic attachment theory from the play therapy perspective.
  2. plan fun play therapy activities to assist clients in improving relationships.
  3. demonstrate knowledge of how these play therapy activities impact growth and development.

About our presenter: Juliet Fortino, MC, LPC, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor works with Children and Families involved with Department of Child Safety and the various child mental health agencies in the Tucson, Arizona, community in a private practice setting. She has 23 years of experience working with child trauma, abuse, attachment, and play therapy.  She currently uses play therapy in individual and family therapy to help children heal from their previous traumas. She has extensive experience working with children of all ages, including the 0-5 age group. She speaks locally and nationally on a variety of topics.

VIRTUAL: This will be a virtual meeting. Participants will be awarded CONTACT CE upon successful completion of a post test.

NEAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to Play Therapy. APT Approved Provider 02-123. NEAPT maintains responsibility for the program. Registrants understand and agree that any photograph, video or audio recording of themselves may be used to further promote NEAPT.

Cancellation Policy: All cancellations must be requested in writing and received no later than June 7, 2020. Cancellations are subject to a $15 processing fee. Substitutions (someone else attending) or transfer of registration to another training date may be requested.
